Cockatoos squawk at tourists
In Australia zoo.

Bandicoots
Huddle in cages
Like refugees
From a poacher’s wilderness.

Wally the wallaby
Is one of a kind.

His family
Threatened
To become extinct.

As he hops around,
A pouch sags
Like a handbag.

Coming out
Of his closet,
Wally the wallaby
Is really a woman.
