These poems were written at a two day poetry workshop.

Haiku

A flag flaps
in nor’west wind
An albatross soars

Bullies prowl
on school fields
Sharks in rough waters

The ball wall
firing range
children stand blind-folded

A child schlurps
strings of spaghetti
Magpies search for worms

Looking out the car window:
houses become trees,
shops merge into paddocks,
traffic jams transform
into crystal clear rivers

People in shopping malls
are grazing cattle,
chewing the cud
of last season’s fashion.

Fantails and sparrows sing
in wild willows,
where monkeys
used to play
in concrete jungles.

Moving from the city,
to the country.
Nature’s instinct
is awakened,
